Debbie O’Connell was a champion for the Portage County Safety Council to say the least! She served on the Steering Committee for 10 years, from 2013-2023. During that time, Debbie was instrumental in most of our annual safety programming that resulted in 5 Safety Council of the Year nominations.  Debbie also played a lead role in the 2014, 2016 and 2018 Portage County Workplace Safety & Health Expos where she planned, organized and oversaw the Exhibit Hall. She served as the Steering Committee Chair from July 2018-June 2023, where she helped successfully navigate the Portage County Safety Council through the COVID-19 Pandemic. Without Debbie, the Portage County Safety Council would not be where it is today. In 2023, she was honored with the Portage County Safety Council Outstanding Leadership Award.
